What is a hot tub

What's the difference between a hot tub and a whirlpool bathtub or SPA?

Both offer moments of relaxation and wellbeing, but they deliver two different experiences.

A whirlpool bathtub is part of the bathing ritual: it's filled when you want to use it and drained afterwards, offering an intimate space dedicated to everyday relaxation.

A hot tub, on the other hand, creates a true wellbeing oasis that's always ready to welcome you. The water stays in the tub and is continuously filtered, treated and kept at your preferred temperature, so you can enjoy hydromassage whenever you like — and, with the right models, outdoors all year round.

Larger and designed to be shared, a hot tub combines different seats and types of jets to turn relaxation into a complete wellbeing experience, to enjoy on your own or together.

How many people can a Novellini Home Oasis hot tub hold?

It depends on the model: the Novellini Home Oasis collection ranges from compact solutions for two or three people to configurations designed to welcome the whole family or a group of friends, without ever compromising on massage quality. Discover all available models

Can it be installed in a garden as well as on a terrace?

Yes. Novellini hot tubs are made to live outdoors in every season, in a garden as much as on a terrace. The only thing to consider is the surface it rests on, which must be able to bear its full weight when filled: something we assess together with you during the site visit.

Choosing the right model

How do I know which model is right for me?

A few details — the space available, how many people will use it most often, the hydromassage sensations you're looking for — are all it takes to point you towards the right model. Our team is available for tailored advice, even before you see the hot tub in person. Write to us and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

What's the main difference between the models?

Each model has its own character, expressed in its size, capacity, number and layout of jets, and level of integrated technology. In the Novellini Home Oasis hot tub catalogue (download link) you'll find the details of every configuration, so you can compare the options at your own pace and choose the one closest to your needs. You can also explore all hot tub models on this page.

Installation

Do I need a permit to install a hot tub in my garden?

In most cases the process is simple: being a movable, above-ground structure, a hot tub doesn't require the kind of complex building permits a traditional swimming pool does. Regulations vary from one municipality to another, though, so we always recommend checking with your local planning office before installation.

What kind of base does it need?

It needs a flat, stable surface able to bear the hot tub's full weight when filled with water and occupied — typically a concrete base or reinforced paving. You won't have to handle this on your own — we'll support you with dedicated assistance and precise sizing guidance for your space.

Is it delivered fully assembled, or does it need to be put together?

The hot tub is delivered ready to use: our job is to position it, connect it to the utilities and check that it's working correctly, so all you need to do is fill it and enjoy your first soak.

How does the electrical connection work?

Novellini Home Oasis hot tubs come with a single-phase connection as standard. If needed, a three-phase conversion can be requested: this requires the work of a qualified electrician.

Maintenance and water care

How often does the water need to be changed?

With regular upkeep — filtration, keeping it covered when not in use, and periodic treatment — the water in your hot tub stays clean for a long time. For home use, a full water change is generally not needed more than a few times a year.

How does a full water change work?

Novellini Home Oasis hot tubs can be fitted with a rapid-drain and automatic-refill system, operated by a push-button control installed outside the tub: with the integrated pump, draining generally takes 5 to 10 minutes.

How do I top up water lost to evaporation or use?

You can top up the water manually, just like the first fill. If you'd rather not think about it, an optional automatic level-maintenance system is available: a sensor detects when water is needed and refills it from a dedicated inlet.

Are special chemical products needed?

Yes, basic treatment is needed to keep the water balanced. Working alongside it, though, is technology: Novellini hot tubs feature a UV-C sanitising system that quietly works together with filtration, significantly reducing bacterial levels. The result is water that stays clean for longer, with less effort on your part. Find out how to care for your hot tub.

What's the difference between chlorine, active oxygen and bromine for water treatment?

Chlorine is the most widely used product: it keeps sanitising over time and is also ideal for the initial "shock" treatment. Active oxygen has a gentle action and is ideal when the hot tub is used by just a few people and not for extended periods. Bromine keeps disinfecting effectively even with large swings in pH and is odourless, although it's less commonly used. To help you choose the treatment best suited to how you use your hot tub, our support centre is at your disposal.

How do I prevent foam from forming in the water?

Foam is most often caused by household detergents, sunscreen or cosmetics coming into contact with the water. The most effective habit is also the simplest: a quick shower before you step in. If foam does still appear, a specific anti-foam product quickly solves the problem. Discover all our tips for keeping your hot tub's water crystal clear.

How often does the filter need cleaning?

Cleaning the filter is a simple task that should be done regularly — the exact timings are given in your model's manual. Together with water treatment, it will help you keep your hot tub's water clean and crystal clear.

Enjoying your hot tub every day

What's the ideal water temperature?

The comfort temperature is generally between 35 and 38°C, but you can adjust it freely to suit the moment — cooler for an energising start to the day, warmer for deep relaxation in the evening. With the dedicated app you can set it in advance and find it ready when you arrive.

Can it be used in winter or in cold weather?

Yes, Novellini Home Oasis hot tubs are designed to be enjoyed all year round, even in the colder months: in fact, the contrast between the warm water and the cold outside air is one of the experiences owners appreciate most.

How long can you stay in the water?

Sessions of 15 to 30 minutes are generally recommended, to fully enjoy the benefits of heat and hydromassage without overtaxing the body. Listening to your own body is still the best guide.

Wellbeing and precautions

What are the benefits of a soak in a hot tub?

Warm water improves circulation and helps release muscle tension, buoyancy takes the weight off the joints, and overall relaxation helps improve sleep quality and reduce perceived stress — benefits confirmed both by the age-old tradition of hydrotherapy and by contemporary scientific research.

Are there any precautions during pregnancy?

Immersion in warm water during pregnancy calls for care, especially regarding water temperature: we always recommend consulting your doctor before use and avoiding high temperatures.

Technology, support and warranty

How does the remote control app work?

From the Novellini app you can switch on your hot tub, set the temperature, and choose the Chromolight colour and the music — all from your smartphone, wherever you are, so it's ready exactly when you need it.

How does Wi-Fi control work?

A Wi-Fi module connects to your home router and communicates with the hot tub's system, letting you control it from anywhere with an internet connection, directly through the Novellini app.
