Modern colourful bathrooms: ideas and solutions by Novellini

The modern bathroom is no longer just a functional space but a true design environment where colours, materials and finishes help to define the style of the entire home. In recent years, bathroom design trends have moved beyond the traditional all-white aesthetic, embracing more sophisticated colour palettes that create welcoming, elegant and highly personalised interiors. From soft, natural tones to bold contemporary shades, modern colourful bathrooms have become one of the most popular ways to create coordinated spaces that reflect individual style and personality.

Choosing the right colours is about more than visual impact. Every shade interacts with materials, wall coverings, bathroom furniture, shower enclosures and accessories to create a balanced and harmonious space. Textured finishes, matt or gloss surfaces, natural materials and carefully considered colour contrasts enhance both spacious bathrooms and more compact interiors, improving the perception of space and maximising natural light. Coordinating bathroom furniture, shower enclosures, baths and accessories is therefore essential to achieving a refined, cohesive design.

Novellini perfectly interprets this evolution in bathroom design through collections that combine aesthetics, functionality and personalisation. Thanks to a wide selection of finishes, colours and materials, it is possible to create perfectly coordinated modern bathrooms, where every element contributes to a distinctive, contemporary atmosphere. From warm nature-inspired shades to more sophisticated and striking colours, Novellini offers endless design possibilities to transform the bathroom into a contemporary living space that integrates seamlessly with the rest of the home.

Total Bathroom: how to transform your bathroom into a coordinated, designer space

When designing a modern colourful bathroom, one of the most common mistakes is focusing on a single feature – often the bathroom furniture – without considering how it relates to the rest of the space. The result is often a fragmented interior that lacks the visual harmony characteristic of a well-designed bathroom. Even high-quality furniture can struggle to create a refined, cohesive look if it is paired with a shower enclosure or accessories that do not complement the overall design.

The Total Bathroom concept is built around a different approach: every element of the bathroom – furniture, washbasin, mirror, shower enclosure, bathtub and accessories – should be carefully selected as part of a cohesive design scheme, where colours and finishes provide a consistent visual thread. This does not mean every component has to match exactly, but rather that they should work together harmoniously. For example, the colour of the furniture can echo the finish of the shower enclosure profiles, while the metallic tones of the brassware can be reflected in the accessories, creating a balanced and visually coordinated space.

In a contemporary bathroom project, careful consideration of the colour palette is essential. Neutral shades such as beige, sand, warm grey or matt white can be enhanced with contrasting black, bronze or satin metallic finishes, while bolder colours add personality and character to the room. The selection and combination of materials are equally important: matt surfaces, smoked glass, textured finishes and soft-touch materials all contribute to creating a more sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere.

Novellini's bathroom solutions make it possible to create perfectly coordinated spaces, where every element contributes to visual continuity and aesthetic harmony. Shower enclosures, bathtubs, bathroom furniture and accessories can all be customised in terms of colours, finishes and design details, allowing them to be combined into a single, integrated bathroom concept.

Colours and materials: the latest trends for modern colourful bathrooms

In contemporary bathroom design, colour is no longer seen as simply a decorative feature but as a true design tool that shapes the atmosphere, style and perception of the space. The latest interior design trends embrace sophisticated, harmonious colour palettes, where surfaces, finishes and textures work together to create bathrooms that are visually striking yet welcoming and relaxing. Modern bathrooms are moving away from stark contrasts and cold colour combinations in favour of softer, more natural and enveloping tones that enhance natural light and create a seamless connection with the rest of the home.

Among the most popular shades are nature-inspired colours such as beige, sand, clay, ecru, powder pink and wood tones, all ideal for creating elegant, calming interiors with a warm and inviting feel. These palettes are complemented by bolder, more contemporary colours such as anthracite grey, bronze, deep blue and matt black, often used to introduce sophisticated contrasts and give the space greater character. Metallic details also play an increasingly important role in defining the bathroom's aesthetic. Brushed bronze, satin gold, stainless steel and matt black finishes enhance the overall design while adding brightness and elegance.

Materials have also become a defining feature of contemporary bathroom design. Natural wood and wood-effect finishes remain among the most popular choices, bringing warmth and character to the bathroom, particularly when paired with matt surfaces and tactile textures. Porcelain stoneware, on the other hand, recreates the look of natural stone or contemporary marble, making it an ideal choice for wall and floor coverings, countertops and shower walls. Combining smooth surfaces, soft-touch finishes and textured materials adds visual depth, avoiding the flat appearance often associated with bathrooms designed around a single dominant material.

Novellini's bathroom furniture collections perfectly embody this trend through sophisticated colour combinations and carefully coordinated materials. The LAB 39 LA102 composition, for example, pairs bark-effect oak with textured clay-pink surfaces and matt black aluminium details to create a warm, refined setting where soft lighting, natural materials and clean lines combine to shape a contemporary and relaxing space. The oak countertop with countertop washbasin works in perfect harmony with the suspended two-drawer vanity unit, offset to create a sense of lightness and visual continuity. The large backlit mirror completes the composition by enhancing both light and depth, while the Divina Dual bath and matching accessories reinforce the Total Bathroom concept. Throughout the collection, colour is used with restraint, complementing materials, volumes and finishes to create a sophisticated, balanced and welcoming environment.

A different yet equally elegant approach can be found in the Relax 2.0 RE107 composition, where matt light grey is paired with brushed bronze details to create a refined, intimate and contemporary bathroom. The suspended composition is supported by aluminium elements that enhance both functionality and visual balance, reinforcing the feeling of order and continuity throughout the space. The matt light grey finish brightens the room and enhances natural light, while the brushed bronze introduces a warm, sophisticated contrast that adds depth without overwhelming the overall design.

The vertically illuminated mirror with integrated shelf completes the composition, enhancing the perception of space while amplifying natural light with understated elegance. The result is an intimate and relaxing atmosphere, where soft tones, clean geometries and carefully considered lighting create a welcoming environment designed for everyday wellbeing. The shower area also contributes to this visual continuity with Kuadra H Frame, a minimalist walk-in shower that integrates seamlessly with the Frame accessories and the overall bathroom design. The result is a perfectly coordinated space where materials, colours and design details work together in complete harmony.

The Track TR102 composition interprets the concept of the contemporary bathroom through a perfect balance of functionality, visual lightness and distinctive colour. The deep, refined Sea Blue takes centre stage, paired with matt black to create a modern, elegant contrast that adds character without overwhelming the space. This carefully curated colour palette defines a sophisticated bathroom where colour becomes a true architectural feature.

Compact yet highly functional, the composition includes a suspended two-drawer vanity unit with an integrated cupboard, designed to maximise storage while maintaining a clean, uncluttered appearance. The countertop washbasin introduces a contemporary focal point, while the shaped mirror with integrated shelf enhances both light and depth, adding everyday practicality without compromising the minimalist aesthetic.

Every element has been designed to enhance the perception of space through clean lines, suspended volumes and an abundance of natural light. The result is a bright, elongated bathroom that feels both intimate and perfectly balanced, where each component contributes to visual continuity and design harmony. The shower area is equally coordinated, featuring the NH A corner shower enclosure, the Easy 2 shower column and Frame accessories, all working together to create a cohesive bathroom with a consistent design language and carefully matched finishes.

Modern colourful bathrooms with a shower: creating continuity between design and functionality

In modern colourful bathrooms, the shower area is no longer designed as a separate zone but as an integral part of the overall bathroom concept. The shower enclosure plays a key role in defining the style of the space through coordinated profiles, glass, finishes and design details that complement bathroom furniture, wall coverings and accessories. This approach creates more harmonious, visually balanced interiors, where every element works together to reinforce the Total Bathroom concept.

The latest trends favour shower solutions with a clean, minimalist aesthetic, characterised by large glazed surfaces, slim profiles and finishes coordinated with the rest of the bathroom. Metallic profiles in matt black, brushed bronze, stainless steel or satin gold create visual connections with brassware, furniture and accessories, while clear or smoked glass enhances natural light and increases the perception of space. Shower trays also play an important aesthetic role when finished with textured surfaces and materials that complement the flooring and wall coverings.

In contemporary bathroom design, continuity between the shower area and the rest of the furnishings is particularly important, especially in open-plan layouts or smaller bathrooms, where visual consistency helps create a greater sense of space and order. For this reason, Novellini collections allow shower enclosures, shower columns, accessories and bathroom furniture to be coordinated through a wide choice of colours and finishes, creating bathrooms that are perfectly integrated from both a design and aesthetic perspective.

Walk-in showers have become one of the most popular choices for modern colourful bathrooms because they create bright, contemporary spaces with a light visual impact. Minimalist profiles, large glass panels and coordinated details help establish visual continuity throughout the bathroom, transforming the shower into a genuine architectural feature. Matching accessories and finishes coordinated with the bathroom furniture complete a refined, cohesive design where aesthetics and functionality exist in perfect balance.
